Dr. Nikos Chorianopoulos was born in Athens at 14/5/1976. He received his BSc in Food Science and Technology Dept of Agricultural University of Athens (AUA), Greece in 2002. Subsequently, he obtained his PhD in Science Dept of AUA in 2007 and had post-doctoral training in the laboratories of Prof. G.-J. E. Nychas in AUA and Prof. J. N. Sofos in USA. He had worked as Food Scientist-Researcher at more than 25 European and Greek projects, 5 of them as coordinator. Since February of 2011, he is an Assistant Researcher in Institute of Technology of Agricultural Products of Athens at the Hellenic Agricultural Organization – DEMETER. His work has been focusing on the field of food microbiology with special interest in food safety, in the use of natural antimicrobials as food preservatives, in probiotics, in biofilm disinfection, in fermented products, in the use of modern methods for food analyses. He has published 40 scientific papers in SCI journals (IF/pub: 2.715, h-index: 18, 1145 citations), 4 book chapters and he has more than 110 presentations in international and national conferences. He has served as reviewer in several International Journals of SCI.
