Maria Metafa (MSc, PhD) is Assistant Researcher in Wine Chemistry at the Institute of Technology of Agricultural Products (former Wine Institute of Athens), of ELGO – DIMITRA. She has graduated from the Dept. of Chemistry of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, received her M.Sc. in Industrial Chemistry from University of Athens, and her Ph.D. entitled “Method Development and Validation for the Determination of Primary Aromatic Compounds in White Wines with GC-MS” from University of Athens. She has worked as Senior Analytical Chemist in the Laboratory of Instrumental Analysis of the Wine Institute of Athens (1995-2016) and since 2016 she belongs to the research staff of the Hellenic Agricultural Organization DIMITRA – ITAP. She has participated in more than 15 national and European research projects. She has 13 peer-reviewed publications (SCI journals) (h-index = 7), and more than 35 presentations in national and international conferences. Dr. Metafa is reviewer in scientific journals, evaluator of funding research proposals and participates in working groups of experts in the wine sector both at home and abroad.
